Rockfall 1x7 galvanized steel strand, 8mm to 14mm, for anchoring slope nets, barriers and mesh systems where the anchor is buried and never inspected again.
Slope stabilisation anchors are the worst case for maintenance. They are installed once, grouted or pinned into rock and soil, and then covered with mesh, vegetation and time. Nobody will ever inspect the steel again, and nobody will ever re-coat it. The coating on the day of installation is the coating for the life of the structure.
That is why we specify this strand with a heavier coating and a plain seven wire construction. Seven wires are easy to grout around, they grip in a drilled hole with a standard wedge or resin anchor, and the strand does not have fine outer wires that can be damaged against rock during installation. The heavier coating accounts for the fact that part of the anchor is always in disturbed soil and part is exposed at the surface where water runs.

The main use is rockfall net anchoring, drapery mesh pinning, and anchor strand for flexible barrier and attenuator systems on cut slopes and mountain roads.
It is also used in soil nail and micro pile tie applications where a simple tensioned strand is needed, and in erosion control structures where mesh must be held down on an exposed face for decades.
Coating mass is measured by stripped weight at both ends of each lot, and breaking load is tested per lot with the fracture position recorded. For buried duty we also check coating continuity by a copper sulphate dip test on samples, since a pinhole in a coating that will never be inspected is a corrosion start point.
Cut lengths are measured individually against the cutting list and the ends are served with stainless wire. Bundles are labelled with anchor reference, length and lot number so the installation record and the test certificates can be matched afterwards.
Packaging and DeliveryCut lengths bundled by anchor reference in timber crates or strapped bundles, or full reels of 500m to 2000m for site cutting. Each bundle carries a waterproof label with length, diameter, breaking load and lot number, because paper labels do not survive a week on a slope.
